No.6- Zac Posen :D

Summer + Luxury = Zac Posen's latest collection.

How do I describe Zac Posen's collection? It's like summer in a range of rich colours and shapes. It definitely isn't the most wearable collection- at least not for me anyway- but then again I am a broke 15 year old. Nevertheless, this collection of luxurious dresses defines decadence and extravagance in the most tasteful, stylish and chic way. All of these dresses are so different, and yet they all share the elegance and grace of Zac Posen. I would love to own any one of these dresses; in my opinion however, the purple corseted dress with  chiffon frills is the most luxuriant and beautiful of all. It looks like a real 'Anna Karenina'-esque creation, and is certainly fit for royalty. I also love the shape of some of the sleeker dresses, for instance the plum-coloured dress at the beginning of the post. If an hourglass figure returns to popularity this summer, we all have Zac Posen to thank. This collection is like a trip back in time, right from the Ancient Greek empire (with the white Grecian dress) to the 1930's (with the matching navy and black floral dresses) to modern day. Despite this, the collection has never been more desirable.

No.7- Dior!

No.7 of my Top 10 favourite (Pre- S/S '14) collections: Dior!!!
Below are my favourite pieces from the collection:

Above: My favourite piece from the entire collection. :D

When I first viewed this collection, the first thing I said/ thought was 'It's beaaaauuuuutiful'! And it really is. My next thought was 'Oh dear, how am I supposed to choose my favourite photos  for my blog when there are 59 (!!!) photos from the collection?!'  Choosing which photos to feature on my blog really has been difficult because they're all so individually gorgeous. My main reason for being such an enormous fan of this collection is the colour of the clothing. Raf Simons has chosen a colour scheme of mainly black and white, and thrown bright colours onto all of the clothes to make them look exciting and eye-catching. The entire collection is a kaleidoscope of colour and shape. The silhouette of this collection ranges from hourglass and womanly to long, lean and graceful. Somehow, despite these differences, each piece fits together in perfect harmony and unison. As individual, original and differently daring each piece is, one can tell they are from the same collection. Every piece contains a pop of colour and the traditional Dior elegance, whilst looking thoroughly modern; clothing for OUR TIME. Not outdated, not elderly, not trapped in time- just elegant- despite being of a time where elegance in fashion seems to be limited. This collection seems very brave to me; the woman it is designed for is one of independence and strength- a woman who can look after herself.

My favourite piece from the entire collection has to be the metallic green/ turquoise silk flowing dress pictured above. I find it gorgeous; it's so simple, and yet so fabulous. I also love the high-waisted skirts, which elongate and lengthen legs, and look incredibly chic. I tried to cut down the amount of photographs featured above to 10, but I ended up with 14, because so many of them  are stand-alone pieces; individual works of art. I hope you enjoy this collection as much as I do. :D

No.8- Marc Jacobs :D

No.8 on my list of the Top 10 (a mon avis) Pre- Spring/ Summer '14 Collections... Marc Jacobs! :D

Below are my favourite designs from the collection:

In my opinion, this collection is very 1930's, which I love because the 1930's is one of my favourite eras for fashion. In particular, I adore the sparkly sequined jackets, tied at the front with a very French- looking bow; and the silk dresses and skirts, which seem both sexy and sophisticated. For some reason, looking at this collection makes me imagine a woman waiting at her expensive Parisian hotel for a man to take her out for dinner at the Ritz; perhaps it's down to the fact that the models are lounging on all of the photographs, but I think it has to do with the understated glamour of the collection. The fur collars of the coats add to this glamour, especially paired with  sequins. The striped blue and white theme running throughout the collection maximises the French feel- and I do love everything French! These pieces seem better suited for the evening to me, which evokes a more Autumn/ Winter feel than a Spring/ Summer one. Luckily, the blue and white stripes feel slightly nautical, thus act as a reminder that this is a Spring/ Summer collection. Even the leather on the coats and skirts adds luxury to the collection.

It's a gorgeous collection, full of glamour and decadence. The pieces are simple, yet paired together appear romantic, extravagant and avant-garde.
I cannot wait to see the rest of Marc Jacobs' collection.

No.9 - Sonia Rykiel

No.9 of my Top 10 Pre- Spring/Summer Collections- Sonia Rykiel

Here are my favourite looks from Sonia Rykiel's Collection:

Sonia Rykiel's collection is all about cut. The sharp cut of every piece adds a strength and sharpness to the collection, in contrast to the soft pastel shades seen throughout. This collection is both elegant and wearable; each jacket, dress and skirt looking effortlessly, comfortably chic. In particular I love the pleated skirts, which add a new femininity to dip-dying due to their lightness in colour; as well as the sharply cut jackets, which evoke a sense of casual sophistication. The clothes in this collection are both pretty in their femininity and tough in the way they are pieced together, the wide culottes stopping an outfit from looking weak or dull. The long, high-waist skirts are perfect for making one's legs appear longer and leaner than they really are. In addition, the simple prints on some of the clothing make them softer and slightly whimsical. This is only a small collection, but it's an outstanding and original one at that; somehow Rykiel has taken femininity and added a new strength to it, perfect for our ever more liberating society in which women can enjoy greater freedom and authority. This collection is one for a woman who enjoys perfume, cosmetics and and all things pastel, and yet can walk into a boardroom and be taken seriously.
